Our Day In Videos....

This morning I got up threw on my big comfy white sweater and started packing for the day ahead of us… snacks, sippy cups, diapers…etc. Then I saw it, my camera. I said to myself… Self take the camera and capture this so they can see when they’re older how strong and brave they are. And well so all can see how down right adorable my little rotten ones are. Ok so our day went a little something like this:

We arrived at the hospital and the boys are given some liquid meds to help with any reactions and wait for 40 minutes before the IVIG is given. Here are the boys during that process….

Then the nurses came in and started the IV’s and we are under way with the treatments. Here they are about an hour and a half after the first video was taken. A lot more subdued!

Another hour and a half passes…. They’re getting a little bored and were starting to cry and fuss so we gave them our turned off cell phones to play with…

About an hour or so after that the IV’s were taken out the treatment was over. They went around to all their nurses and gave them hugs and told them bye, thank you and that they’ll see them next time. Such little gentlemen.

Next time? That will be March 15th. Due to illness in the week before the treatment their Doctors are bumping their treatments up to every three weeks…. Breath….Breath….. It’s the adults that need the strength, these little guys where amazing today.

The boys handled it better than I would have, that's for sure. Except for the nurse-hugging part, of course!

Keep drawing on their strength.

They seemed ok, Kate. They're definitely talking more.

It does break you heart, though.

but, you know, I think they did great. I mean they could be passed out on the floor at the sight of needles like their aunt sarah.

They'll be older and healthier soon and it'll all be some odd memory for them. I mean they get to hang out in their jammies with mom and dad all day. . . so that's alright.

Thanks for sharing a part of your (difficult) day with us .

To bad this treatment takes several hours, I know how restless those little guys must get.

Keep on being the AWESOME parent you are and someday these little guys will be grown healthy young men watching this video and will hug you and thank you for taking the hard road .

The videos came out great!!!

The boys are so cute (you too of course)!!! They were SO brave. I love their voices and understood every word - but it wasn't twin talk sooooo - lol

Why do kids love playing with cell phones?? We gave the twins our old ones but they fight over my flip phone. Always something!!

They seem to take it better than I would. Seems to be alot of anxious feelings before and a huge sort of waiting game during. I'm glad you showed us this because it gives me a better understanding of what they're going through. Levi seems to be more of a momma's boy is that correct? And does he get his feelings hurt more than Carter?

I love how they call your mom and dad maw maw and paw paw. That's what my kids have always called my parents. Funny.

Hey Sarah, what's shakin'?

Take care of yourselves Kate. That way y'all won't hopefully have to do this every 3 weeks.

Hugs!

Thanks for sharing this, Katie. Now I can picture you there to send all the strength and goodwill your way on treatment days.

They did great and so did you! You'll get through this and some day this will all be a distant memory when the boys are healthy and running around all over the place.

Kate and Chad, your boys are AWESOME!! I loved listening to them talk on the phones!!! So cute!!

And really, they seemed just fine!

Watching those videos, I kept thinking "Wow! They're getting stronger every second!!!" Soon it'll all be over and we can watch videos of their first sports events!!

Now go have a glass of wine. You deserve it! Oh, wait...it's 9 a.m. there isn't it? Tonight, after the boys are asleep, have a glass of wine!!

kate michele, you are probably one of the most amazing women i know (next to my mom, grandma and God... hehe)! you have a gift to give such strength to those around you. i mean look at those three boys (yes, i'm including chad in that). iv's in the little guys and chad sitting there with them... he's not passed out and the little ones are so amazingly strong and brave! it takes one hell of a woman to be able to do that. on top of that, there was a little sunshine in that room that i saw twice... you smiled. i know that's gotta be hard for you to do at a time like that, but you make the best of everything that's been given to you, smile, and keep going!

YOU ARE AMAZING!

i love you and miss you!
