What's Going On....
There have been 17 school shootings since the school year began.
What if anything can be done?
We should be able to send our children to school without the fear of them being shot to death!!
Is it a social issue, a gun control issue, a parenting issue, an education issue…. What is it??

Well, in almost every one of these cases the kids got the guns from parents who did not keep locks on their guns.
So, there's a start. If everyone kept locks on their guns it would be a lot more difficult for kids to get ahold of them. At least in a useable condition.

I'm not sure that guns are the answer. Something tells me that kooks will find a way to be kooks whether or not they have a gun.
By whatever means necessary, sociopaths will find a way to be sociopaths.
Maybe that's too simplistic. Gun control will curb some of the violence. Perhaps that's enough?
I always wanted to home school my kids-this just reinforces what my gut has been telling me all along.
I second KimmyK. These are the reasons I hesitate in having kids.
I don't think schools are any less safe than anywhere else, really, although I understand the angst. If you put it in perspective though, more kids are murdered each year by their own parents than die in schools at the hands of strangers.
Overall, I think gun control is a good idea; I think better access to psychological treatment is a GREAT place to spend more tax dollars; and I think working on our societies social problems is where we really need to start.
